Details

Pick up from your Fes riad/Hotel at 8:00 a.m by your driver, departure to Merzouga where the sand see dunes of Erg Chebbi are located. An 8 hours journey that takes you across the Atlas Mountains to the southern Morocco’s largest oasis; Tafilalet; composed of many villages, palmeries and 2 main Saharan towns, Erfoud and Rissani. We will make many stops along the road at the alpine town of Ifrane, Azrou cedar forest where are the monkeys, Midelt for lunch and Ziz valley at the panoramic and impressive views over the palm trees, the green valley in the middle of the Sahara. Then we’ll head for the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. We continue deeper into the desert landscape, until the dunes appear in the middle of nowhere. Dinner & Overnight in a hotel with pool at the dune line of Erg Chebbi to relax for the first night.
After breakfast at the hotel, many options are available for you: You may go to explore the neighboring villages of Merzouga such as Hassi Labied, Khamlia where the black musicians. You may also enjoy an offroad drive around the dunes of Erg Chebbi and see the nomads living in tents in the desert. Enjoy the swiming pool in summer months, or climb dunes in front of your hotel at Erg Chebbi dune line.
After having breakfast, camel trek back to the hotel at the dune line for a quick shower. We leave the Sahara desert dunes of Erg Chebbi, an off-road drive across the hamada (black Desert) to get to the Sahara town of Rissani, optional visit of the animated local market. Afterwards, we head north to Erfoud that is known for the fossils; here we can stop to visit a fossil workshop before we continue to the impressive Todra canyons, known for rock climbing, where you can hike before we check into to the hotel, Dinner and overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel, we begin our journey along the road of 1000 Thousand Kasbahs, since there are enormous kasbahs on both sides of the road. Some of those old fortified houses are restored but unfortunately a lot of them are ruins. We pass through Dades valley and go up to the mountainous area through an off-road trail where many Berber villages and few nomads living in caves, here we will have the chance to visit one of this families and take a look at their daily life and their main activity “Looking after herds of goats & cheep”. We will be impressed by the landscapes of the colorful rose valley before we reach Skoura palm grove. 45km further, we reach Ouarzazate for the dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Erg Chebbi – Merzouga. Enjoy a relaxing day at leisure. Perhaps climb up Erg Chebbi before dawn to see the sunrise over the dunes, or enjoy a a lie in and take a camel trek across the rolling sand dunes later in the afternoon. Overnight – Merzouga ( Night in Berber Camp )
Merzouga – Fes. Take a long but very scenic drive today, heading north from the desert and up into the High Atlas past the Ziz Gorge. Past Midelt, the route crosses a grassy plain (in winter) where Nomads of the tribe Ait Atta Tafoukht can be seen pitching their tents and finding grazing for their camels and goats. The road carries on over the next set of mountains – the Middle Atlas and another facet of morocco is seen, the Cedar forests. Ancient forests that cloak the hills are inhabited by monkeys, wild boar and deer. Finally, we descend into Ifrane (a swiss style town and ski resort)and continue onward to Fes. Overnight – Fes
